A-Line Taxis have been serving the Chesterfield community as a private hire taxi firm since the dawn of the Millenium, with over 20 years of experience in the industry, a lot has changed since then but our core values remain the same.

Private Hire & Hackney Services Explained

Private Hire Taxi

Hackney Carriage

  • Private Hire is when an operator takes bookings from customers and passes them on to licensed drivers and vehicles. Private Hire vehicles MUST always be pre-booked and should NEVER be waived down in the street.

    Note: If you undertake a journey in a Private Hire vehicle, which has not been pre-booked, you would not be insured if the vehicle is involved in any incident.

  • A Hackney Carriage is often referred to as a taxi. It can be hired by going to a taxi rank, waved down (or “hailed”) in public streets within the area, in which they are licensed to operate. Hackney Carriages do not need to be pre-booked.

    As a private hire firm, we are NOT licenced to pickup passengers in this way, we advise all our passengers to pre-book via phone or app before entering a private vehicle.
